In 1981, Fruticola Viconto SA is estableshed with the purpose of producing and exporting organic fruit from the northern regions of Chile. Five years later, in 1986, Agricola Greenwich SA is established to begin similar operations in the southern regions. These two companies would expand rapidly over the years, necessitating the construction of a large-scale processing and packaging facility in Placilla, Chile.
In 1996, Agricola Greenwich begins construction of its Organik Time facility, the Noah’s Ark themed packaging plant centered around the export of organic apples. Located about 80 miles south of Santiago in the rural town of Placilla, the plant would serve as a hub for processing all of Agricola Greenwich and Frutícola Viconto’s organic produce. Construction is finally completed in 1998, paving the way for rapid growth in exports that would soon secure a significant international market share.
